Florida DFS Announces Continuing Education Rule

The Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) proposed amendments this week to require insurance licensees to complete a 5-hour update course every two years. The course would have to cover insurance law updates, premium discounts, ethics, disciplinary trends, industry trends, and suitability of insurance products. The proposed rule amendments would allow continuing education providers to develop appropriate course materials, submit them for approval by the Department, and then offer the courses to licensees. Those interested may attend a workshop about the changes to be held on January 11, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. More information about the workshop is in the proposal. Read the proposal. (link)
