FEMA releases data on New Jersey recovery from Hurricane Sandy

The data provided below is from FEMA’s tracking of disaster assistance provided to New Jersey residents after Hurricane Sandy:
  • $2.7 billion in total National Flood Insurance Program payments made on claims to date
  • $367.3 million in FEMA grants approved for individuals and households
  • $318 million for housing assistance
  • $49.3 million for other needs
  • $586.4 million in SBA disaster loans approved for homeowners, renters and businesses
  • $188 million approved in FEMA Public Assistance grants to communities and some nonprofit organizations that serve the public
  • 258,333 people contacted FEMA for help or information
