Last week, Representative Bennie Thompson [D-MS] introduced H.R. 1945, the Fostering Resilience to Terrorism Act of 2013.
This bill would extend the federal government's terrorism insurance program (TRIA), which is set to expire at the end of 2014, through 2024 and give authority to determine if an event is a covered act of terrorism to the Department of Homeland Security.
Previously, a bi-partisan group of lawmakers introduced H.R. 508, the TRIA Reauthorization Act of 2013, which would extend the program for five years through 2019.
ABIA has created a TRIA Working Group for our members to learn about the issue and to increase participation in government relations activities to support a long-term TRIA extension. If you would like to learn more about this ABIA-member working group, please contact ABIA.
