Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) announced that "a substantial majority of the House of Representatives – 231 members – have signed on to bipartisan, bicameral flood relief legislation as coauthors. This significant achievement means that H.R. 3370 has the votes to be passed and signed into law today."
According to a news release from the Rep. Waters, the Ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, "Since the effort to provide homeowners relief from rising flood insurance rates began, it has been bipartisan and supported by a broad coalition of lawmakers," said Waters. 'Our comprehensive affordability legislation passed the Senate by a huge margin and without controversy. Today, a majority of House members have signed on as cosponsors – meaning we know with absolute certainty that this legislation will pass if brought up for a vote. Over 230 Representatives have expressed their support for providing homeowners with flood insurance relief now, including a growing number of Republicans unhappy about the inability to get this done.'"
