This month Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Rep. Neugebauer, Chairman of the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee, wrote to the GAO requesting a report on the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) and the potential impacts of reauthorization vs. non-reauthorization of the program.
The letter requests that the GAO complete this in an expedited manner by May 15, 2014 and be prepared to provide an oral status report with initial findings by April 15, 2014.
The results of this study will assist Members of Congress, as the House and Senate consider legislation to extend TRIA; however, completion of the study should not be viewed as a prerequisite for consideration of a bill.
